‘Silence In-Between’ by Luca Sinka.
25x35cm, mixed media on paper.
Growing up I got familiar with the concept of the objectification and hypersexualization of the female body early. Experiencing these issues daily, the representation of femininity became my main subject in the last few years. This was around the time when I started using oil paint, and that is my main material ever since. In my paintings the female characters are half naked and provocative, but in a way that does not give pleasure to the viewer. I compose the colours and abstarct elements to emphasize how angry, complicated, powerful or broken these figures are. My goal with my style is to combine the sophistication of the European Masters with the energy of the Contemporary Art.
